Touch Bible & the Kindle Fire

Touch Bible was submitted for the Amazon Appstore and the new Kindle Fire!

In anticipation of the new Kindle products from Amazon, Touch Bible has been submitted to the Amazon Appstore for approval.  If approved, Touch Bible will be available from the low price of free for Amazon’s latest tech, the Kindle Fire.

Since the Kindle Fire will be a WiFi device, the internet may not always be available when you’re on the go. As always, Touch Bible is an “offline” Bible; no internet access is required to read or search the Bible.  Now you can take the Bible anywhere you go on yet another revolutionary device.

The new Kindle Fire, which will be released November 15, 2011. When you are looking for A Bible App for your Kindle Fire, be sure to check out Touch Bible!

Freedom of Opinion

In the medieval world, men were not free to voice criticisms against organized religion. One’s own tongue could be the death of him and the church would usher in the executioner. Why was the church so anti-free speech and what can we learn from that?

The medieval church had much to hide.  It taught that forgiveness could be purchased with money.  This idea isn’t found in scripture, but the general public didn’t know. They were wasting their money on fake salvation.

Jan Hus was one of the first to speak out against the mainstream church.  While he took many stabs at the money hungry church, he was one of the first to educate people that salvation wasn’t purchased with money, but it came by faith.

Hus was burnt at the stake for his words.

It isn’t surprising. Church has a history of overreacting to opposition. Intimidation sends a clear message to the less brave, “Don’t speak out against the church or it will make life harder for you.”  It seems the more a church has to hide, the harder it will try to silence its critics.

The church’s embarrassing history still stings today.  The good news is we have come a long way since those days.  While “harsh” words may be exchanged, the church isn’t actively turning heretics over to the government for execution.  Instead, threats come in the legal form or by the tried and true excommunication – where a believer is condemned to hell by the church.

Any church that might try to silence criticism with legal threats should be examined closely by its members. Are they hiding anything? We do not want to bring back the days when opinions are forbidden and outspoken people were punished for their God given right to express opinions.

Interview with BEL on KLTT Radio

On August 17, 2011 I had the pleasure to interview with Pastor Bob Enyart.  We discussed how Touch Bible came to life, and how that eventually lead to a legal battle with In Touch Ministries.  Below is the show summary and a link to listen to the show!  You can find the original show archived on KGOV.com, by following the link Charles Stanley, Patrick Franklin and BEL

* Uh-oh: In Touch Ministries Has Taken Action: Long-time friend of Bob Enyart Live, app developer Patrick Franklin, is facing a “trademark trial” (TTAB) with Charles Stanley’s ministry. Patrick’s downloadable app, for iPhones, iPods, the iPod Touch, Android, etc., is called the Touch Bible and currently has over 700,000 downloads with each copy including chapter one of Bob Enyart’s The Plot. Thanks Patrick! Aside from dedicating a tremendous amount of time and programming talent to pro-life ministry (including by creating the ExceptionsCalculator.com which is used prominently at ProlifeProfiles.com), Patrick programmed the Touch Bible from his hospital bed after doctors diagnosed him with a fatal illness and gave him three years to live. Now Charles Stanley’s In Touch Ministries, a Christian organization that Patrick otherwise highly compliments, is asking Patrick to “cease and desist” from trademarking the popular app’s name “Touch Bible”.

Bob Enyart Live airs on the 55,000-watt AM 670 KLTT in Colorado weekdays at 5pm EST and streams live over the internet worldwide with free daily Podcasts. Learn more by visiting the website KGOV.com.
